Try internet portal....

Now there seems to be this perception that you can just hit a Starbuck or internet café here and get online. Well, that isn’t the case at all, this isn’t the UK. There are no Starbuck…and I mean NONE. And the first 2 weeks of being here more than 50% of the businesses were closed for holiday. Now that more is opening up everyday I have noticed more internet “stops” but let me say…think public restroom from here on out when I talk about them. Out of sheer desperation I went into one and by the time I left, which was less than 30 minutes I needed a shower. My fingers felt sticky and no amount of hand sanitizer was going to do the trick.

I actually went directly to the grocery store and bought myself some pastries as a treat and went home to devour them. I tried to capture it on film but I only made it more glamorous I think. Yuck….
So I’m ready to fashion a modem out of twigs and paper and use, how did Mike say it, Pringles cans for a tower?

Yikes those pringles cans look like an upgrade just by looking at the furniture at the Internet cafe...
ReplyDeleteHahaa yes the Cantenna. That was ajoke, though it would work and probably fix the problem if you had a router that could take an external antenna. But nowaday (at least around here) you can just buy an external antenna readymade…
ReplyDeleteSo are there any places that officially let you set up camp with your own, non-sticky laptop? (Well, it might also be sticky but at least it's your sticky!)
Maybe you could just order a adattore (adapter) wifi usb esterna (external). The DBI rating is how much gain (sensitivity) there is with the antenna. (4 is kinda meh, 12-18 should really help.) Check this out, looks like it will work with both of your laptops. And it's portable (USB powered) and pretty cheap.
ReplyDeletehahaha...and give up my pringles can?
